2021 COVID-19 SUPPLEMENTAL PAID SICK LEAVE (SB 95)
SB 95 was recently passed and becomes effective on March 29th. The UFCW was the principal entity in passing this bill.
- Allows employees to be paid up to 80 hours of sick leave by the employer for COVID-19 related absences including if an employer requires an employee to quarantine. Please refer to eligibility provisions for other instances.
- Is effective until September 30, 2021.
- No medical certification of illness is required.
- Is retroactive to January 1, 2021. It is recommended that you make the request for retroactivity in writing if you had missed work due to a COVID-related illness and were not paid sick leave. If you had used your sick leave the employer is required to restore your sick leave, however, I do not believe the Trust Fund has put a plan in place at this time for the sick leave reimbursement.
