Macy’s Bargaining Update: Tentative Agreement Reached!
The UFCW bargaining committee met with company representatives on October 8 to continue talks for a new collective bargaining agreement. After 16 bargaining sessions, we are pleased to inform you that we have reached a tentative agreement for a new contract and are recommending a “YES” vote.
This round of negotiations has been extremely difficult with the company announcing the potential closure of the Union Square location in February 2024. The pressure of balancing between keeping the doors open and getting a fair agreement was a difficult task for the Committee. We believe we have reached an equitable agreement and look forward to explaining the agreement to our members.
Local 5 will hold informational meetings and vote the agreement at our union office, on the 3rd floor conference room (located at 323 Geary St.) on Friday October 24 from 9 AM to 6 PM. The bargaining committee wishes to thank the members for patiently sticking together during this lengthy process so that we could reach the best agreement possible under the circumstances.
