July 10, 2025, Safeway Action/Bargaining Update
Your UFCW 5 bargaining committee, along with locals 8 and 648, continued contract negotiations on July 8th and 9th.
Our bargaining committee made it extremely clear that any new agreement needs to address the needs of our hardworking members. These negotiations affect over 25,000 workers represented by the three UFCW locals, who are fighting for a contract to address rising costs of living, scheduling improvements, increased retirement savings, and accessible and affordable healthcare. The bargaining committee has been negotiating with Safeway since March, but the company has been more focused on cuts than on making progress towards a fair agreement.
Safeway workers helped build Safeway into what it is today, and as essential workers you deserve a contract that reflects your contributions. Together we will be having a rally on July 15th, from 4pm to 6pm at Safeway #2941, 707 Contra Costa Blvd, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.

Nuestro comité de negociación dejó muy claro que cualquier nuevo acuerdo debe abordar las necesidades de nuestros miembros trabajadores. Estas negociaciones afectan a más de 25,000 trabajadores representados por los tres locales de UFCW, que están luchando por un contrato para abordar el aumento del costo de vida, mejoras en los horarios, incrementar los ahorros para la jubilación y atención médica abordable y accesible.
