The Alameda County Labor Council posthumously honored late Local 5 President John Nunes with a special “Tribute Award” at its annual Unionist of the Year banquet last month.

Nunes, who passed away unexpectedly last September, was remembered for his tireless work on behalf of the labor movement, particularly in Alameda County where he served on behalf of UFCW Local 870 prior to the merger that created Local 5.

Current Local 5 President John Frahm along with other members accepted the award on behalf of Nunes.
