UFCW Local 5 Rite Aid workers reject Company offer and Authorize Strike
United Food & Commercial Workers Local 5 Rite Aid workers overwhelmingly rejected the Company offer and authorized a strike. 98% of Rite Aid workers stood together to reject a substandard offer from the company that would have unjustly shifted healthcare costs over to workers, a wage proposal that doesn’t take into consideration the high cost of living, and underfunding retirement that would put long earned pension benefits at risk.
The company and the union have been in communication regarding a return to the bargaining table. Absent a fair offer from Rite Aid, Local 5 has set a deadline of June 23rd at midnight to reach an agreement, or a strike will commence.
