UFCW 5 meets with UFCW 3000 in Seattle regarding Macy’s coordination and set’s deadline amid resumption of bargaining

On January 4th UFCW Local 5 leadership met with UFCW Local 3000 to discuss the ongoing contract bargaining with Macy’s. Local 3000’s represents Macy’s workers in the greater Seattle area and their agreement with Macy’s expires in February. Local 5 is prepared to call another strike on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday if an agreement is not reached with the company. The Unions agreed to support each other in their respective contract fights with Macy’s to Respect, Protect, and Pay Macy’s workers and pledged to coordinate actions and send strike support as needed.

UFCW 5 leadership has been in contact with the Macy’s representatives to continue bargaining for a new contract and the parties have agreed to return to the negotiation table on Tuesday January 10th at a neutral location. El 4 de enero, el liderazgo del Local 5 de UFCW se reunió con el Local 3000 de UFCW para discutir la negociación del contrato en curso con Macy’s El Local 3000 representa a los trabajadores de Macy’s en el área metropolitana de Seattle y su Contrato con Macy’s se vence en febrero. El Local 5 se está preparado para convocar otra huelga en el feriado de Martin Luther King Jr si no se llega a un acuerdo con la empresa.
