Macy’s Bargaining Update January 10, 2023 Company goes backwards on offer. Strike Called

The UFCW Local 5 bargaining committee returned to negotiations at the request of the employer on Tuesday the 10th in hopes of reaching an offer that is acceptable to the Macy’s membership. To the disbelief of the bargaining committee, Macy’s made no improvements to their offer, and in fact, went backwards on the offer that the members went on strike over on December 23rd and 24th.

As such, we have no other option than to proceed with a strike on January 14th and 15th. The union has called a meeting for January 11th to discuss the backwards offer and make preparations for a strike.  Please make every effort to attend this important meeting. Please do not let the company dissuade you from the real issues Macy’s workers face with misdirection and veiled threats.
