Macy’s Update #3

For the first time this week the company finally met with your bargaining committee in person. Unfortunately, several of the Company’s proposals still remain on the table including a reduction to the amount of full-time support positions, elimination of the full-time sales guarantee, and a “new” integrated sales classification. Local 5 has given the company a comprehensive proposal that includes wage and benefit increases and further job protections. To date, there has been no agreement from the company regarding worker safety and security which is of paramount importance to our Macy’s workers. The Local 5 bargaining committee continues to press the Company to fulfill its legal obligation to provide the information requested by the Union so that we may negotiate effectively for our members.
