SB 95 was recently passed and becomes effective on March 29th. The UFCW was the principal entity in passing this bill.
Allows employees to be paid up to 80 hours of sick leave by the employer for COVID-19 related absences including if an employer requires an employee to quarantine. Please refer to eligibility provisions for other instances.
Is effective until September 30, 2021.
No medical certification of illness is required.
Is retroactive to January 1, 2021. It is recommended that you make the request for retroactivity in writing if you had missed work due to a COVID-related illness and were not paid sick leave. If you had used your sick leave the employer is required to restore your sick leave, however, I do not believe the Trust Fund has put a plan in place at this time for the sick leave reimbursement.
