Tentative Agreement Reached With Safeway Stores

After 16 months the Safeway Union Bargaining Committee has reached a tentative agreement with Safeway. The Bargaining Committee has achieved a majority of their goals and objectives they set out to accomplish in bargaining.

UFCW 5 expects to mail secret ballot packets by the end of next week and conduct informational meetings to explain the tentative agreement the week of March 16th through the 22nd.

The Bargaining Committee and staff at UFCW 5 would like to thank the members for their relentless support in demanding of management fair wages and improved working conditions. A special thanks to the Safeway members for showing up in mass at the recent rallies held at Safeway store locations throughout the Bay Counties.

The sensational turn-out at the rallies had the full support and backing of the customers who consider the grocery workers their longtime friends and neighbors. Safeway customers witness weekly the hard work and dedication of Safeway employees in making their grocery experience a more enjoyable one. It is only natural the customers have the workers back!

Please access the website at www.ufcw5.org for the locations of the upcoming informational meetings.
