MACY’S MEMBERS REJECT OFFER BY 90% – STRIKE AUTHORIZED
9 out of 10 Macy’s members voted in overwhelming numbers to reject the company’s offer. The overriding concerns repeatedly expressed during member voting were the cost of health care benefits, unfairly protecting new hires from layoffs in lease departments, inadequate wage offers and substandard sick leave provisions.
Representatives from Macy’s and the Union have discussed a meeting for early next week to avoid an impending labor dispute. At this time no date has been set to strike the company.
