The Safeway Bargaining Committee met with Safeway representatives on August 22^nd.  

Progress was made in respect to Safeway removing most of the onerous proposals they had submitted and agreeing to some beneficial contract changes proposed by the Union. In addition, the Company had agreed to continue increasing contributions to the pension fund during the life of the agreement.

Additional dates were scheduled for September 16, 17 and 18, although the 18^th is tentative conditioned on Safeway’s availability.
