Unions Call on Company to Return to the Table
Bargaining Update Volume 10: April 8, 2014
United Food and Commercial Workers Locals 5, 8 and 648 have issued a call, through the unions’ attorney, for Lucky-Save Mart to return to the table for negotiations over a new collective bargaining agreement. The unions have also requested that management return to the table prepared to discuss the Foodmaxx agreement which has been expired since June 2011.
The last time the unions and company met, the employer side requested a break to take a look at pension numbers, in order to formulate proposals on the issue. In addition since the last meetings with the company management hired Patrick Jordan, a labor consultant from Marin County, to engineer their proposals and bargaining positions. Ample time has passed to look at the pension numbers and bring the new hire up to date. The time to return to the bargaining table is now. Locals 5, 8, 648 and all the members represented at Lucky-Save Mart and Foodmaxx are ready to negotiate.
Local 5’s negotiations hotline has been reactivated. Members can call the hotline at (800) 619-4036 for the latest news on the talks. The hotline will be updated as events warrant.
