UFCW Local 5 Nob Hill Negotiations Update

This is the text from the phone message sent out by UFCW Local 5 President John Nunes to Nob Hill members on April 24, 2015:

After two marathon negotiating sessions with the representatives of Nob Hill and the assistance of a Federal Mediator, your Union has avoided a potential labor dispute with your employer and has reached a tentative agreement which your Union will be recommending to the membership. The tentative agreement provides a wage increase and two bonus payments over the three year agreement while making the 28 hour guarantee a permanent part of the contract.

Additionally, your Local 5 bargaining committee beat back employer attempts to significantly expand Courtesy Clerk duties, eliminate Memorial Day for all employees as a paid holiday and create part-time meat cutter positions.

Local 5 also achieved a significant bargaining goal at the outset of negotiations, which was to re-establish premium pay for all holidays worked. Accordingly, I am happy to announce that we achieved this goal. Although your bargaining team negotiated a very good overall agreement, we were not successful in winning back Sunday premium pay.

Local 5 will be conducting informational meetings in numerous locations next week so please access the Local 5 website for the dates, locations and times for the meetings. Early next week we will also be sending out voting packets so members can vote.
