Union City School Named After Itliong & Vera Cruz

ItliongVeracruzA school in Union City, California has been named after union legends Larry Itliong & Phil Vera Cruz. Itliong and Vera Cruz were leaders in the 1965 Delano grape strike and lifelong fighters for the rights of agricultural workers. Their militance led to a worldwide boycott of California table grapes and cleared the way for the rise of Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers Union (UFW).
