Lucky-Save Mart Bargaining Update #21

Company & Unions Met September 19, Little Progress Seen

Negotiations took place again on Friday September 19 between Lucky-Save Mart (LSM) and UFCW Locals 5, 8 & 648. LSM issued another offer on Friday that falls far short of what is acceptable for the Union to recommend to the membership for approval.

The many issues remaining are complex and the Unions are working diligently to address the shortcomings in the current contract. A main objective of the Unions is to restore previously reduced Senior Clerks wages while providing a mechanism to ensure that the wage reductions cannot recur in the future.

The Company has made serious commitments to allocating significant resources to renovating their stores and has agreed to put such commitments in the Union contracts. The Unions are encouraged about the Companys commitment in making major investments in their stores and the related growth in business and work opportunities it will generate.

The Unions will continue negotiating with the Company next week and are determined to bargain an agreement that the membership will find acceptable, and we will remain at the table until that time.
