UFCW Member and shop steward Mike Ballerini Makes his position clear on Nob Hill in Alameda

Letters To The Editor, Alameda Journal, Friday January 19, 2007

Put the union label on Nob Hill Foods

I was recently dismayed to find out that Nob Hill Foods was even thinking of opening it's new store at Bridgeside as nonunion.  Alameda is a working class city and  many of Nob Hill's neighbors, including  myself will only shop at a union grocery store. Your store is under the jurisdiction of Local 5 of the UFCW and should open as a union shop.

I don't believe that the city of Alameda envisioned a mini Wal-Mart for Bridgeside Center and would also like the employees to be unionized.
